This course is designed to give the participants a thorough understanding of Process Piping Code, ASME B 31.4 and its practical use as illustrated with numerous case studies. It offers detailed insight pertaining to design, manufacture and routine inspection of the Piping systems typically used for transportation of Liquid Petroleum Products, and Liquid anhydrous Ammonia. The course emphasizes understanding of ‘stated’ and ‘implied’ requirements (i.e. content and intent) of the code.
Important code requirements will be explained in a simple, straight forward manner, including the Short-cut methods in designing of Pipes, Pipe fitting and Flanges. It further explains the fabrication, assembly, welding, erection, inspection and testing of Piping systems. The course is designed such that no previous background in ASME code is necessary. However, those familiar with the code will find the course immensely useful as regards understanding the code by “letter and spirit “and gaining a thorough systematic practical insight of the code
Upon successful completion of this course, the delegates will be able to:
DAY 1
Concept and Philosophy of ASME B 31.4 Code
Design of Pipe and Piping Component
Day 2
Application of Selected Material
Fabrication, Assembly and Erection
Day 3
Inspection, Examination and Testing
Day 4
Additional Code requirements for Special Cases
Day 5
How to Conduct and Certify Pressure Testing
Feedback Examination and Concluding Session
This course is ideally suited for design engineers, mechanical engineers and erection and maintenance engineers, managers with or without experience in application ASME b 31.4 code, inspection people, maintenance engineers and technicians and people involved in trouble shooting of liquid petroleum transportation piping system.
