Basic Anatomy and Physiology/Patient Assessment

• triage in multiple casualty incidents

Airway Management

• causes and prevention of airway obstruction or cessation of breathing
• clearing obstructed airways
• oxygen therapy, suction Therapy

Thoracic Trauma

• pneumothorax

• flail chest

Day 3

Cardiac Arrest

• factors leading to cardiac arrest cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques:

Day 4

Soft Tissue Injuries

Musculoskeletal/CNS Injuries

• fractures, dislocations, sprains/strains
• assessment of unconscious casualties
• head injuries – causes, mechanisms and management
• assessment and management of injury to spine & spinal cord

Day 5

Medical Emergencies

• abdominal injuries
• seizures, diabetes, epilepsy
• poisons, stings, bites – human and animal
• Heat and cold injuries

Extrication and Rescue

• principles and techniques of stabilization and extrication
• preparing and packaging patients for evacuation
• Specialized rescue
• Mountain, ice, cold, marine, swift water, etc.
• knots, slings & harnesses
• equipment improvisation
• first aid kits and equipment
• Accident report forms

This course is intended for those who wants basic understanding of emergency care as well as a basic grasp or related clinical theories and to people in the construction workplace or general community who wish to gain standard first aid skills at their workplace or personal benefit.
